ADVANCED MICRONEEDLING Course Outline

Day 1 (8hrs) (4hrs theory – 4hrs practical)
  • Alberta Health Services – Sanitation, Sterilization & Infection Control (4hrs) – 2hrs practical – 2hrs theory
  • Skin anatomy & physiology review (1hr)
  • Skin disorders, indications & contraindications (1hr)
  • Skin analysis & skin typing (2hrs) – practical
Day 2 (8hrs)
3.5hrs theory–4.5hrs practical
  • Consultation, consents, avoiding patient complications, record keeping (1hr)
  • Methodology of Microneedling – history, different types, Dermaroller, pen, Fractional RF (.5hrs)
  • Advantages/disadvantages of each modality (.5hr)
  • Anesthetics – to numb or not to numb – different types available (1hr)
  • Techniques, topicals(what to add and what not to add) and endpoints for each modality (.5hr)
  • Hands on techniques and practicing from consult to treatment – for each modality (4.5hrs)
Day 3 (8hrs)
3hrs theory – 5hrs practical
  • Combination therapy including pre&post care – combining modalities (1hr)
  • Wound healing/repair physiology, and healing responses (1hr)
  • Reducing wound stress & inflammation (genetic, environmental, health interactions) (1hr)
  • Treatment planning and case studies (4hrs) – this is a hands-on task to be done in pairs
  • Question and Answer period (1hr)
